Affiliate Marketing With Public Domain Content
April 21, 2009 by Debra · 11 Comments
I’ve had many conversations with marketers interested in using Public Domain content in tandem with marketing affiliate products.
Most marketing guru’s will tell you to sell high ticket items as an affiliate and look for large commission percentages to boot!
I don’t dispute this advice. It’s good advice… if only we could all be successful selling those large ticket items on a regular basis.
You can make a “decent” income selling low priced items as an affiliate. Yes… you have to sell a boat load to make the mortgage payment every month - but it can be one part of your multiple streams of income.
If you have enough of those little streams of income - they can (and will eventually) add up to a very nice “large” river.
I was recently introduced to a new affiliate program. It looked like a nice little niche book market program to join.
The Krause Publishing Company just joined the “Google Affiliate Network”
The Krause company has this to say on the website:
Krause Publications was formed in 1952 when founder, Chester Krause, rolled out the first issue of the cornerstone Numismatic News publication, which today continues to have a strong presence in the coin-collecting hobby.
Twenty years later, an 800-page Standard Catalog of World Coins made it’s debut and the rest…is history. In the nearly 35 years since that massive catalog rolled off the press, our list has grown from just one title to more than 750 titles in print.
We pride ourselves in supplying collectors and hobbyists with the information and instruction they need to enjoy their hobby even more. There’s something for everyone from antique collectors to comic book collectors, old cars fans, hunters and shooters, sewers and quilts, coin collectors and more.
Krause Publications joined the F+W Publications, Inc. family in July 2002.
Why did I find this interesting?
One of the books they sell on the site:
The idea I had was to build a website all about rug hooking using Public Domain Material.
This is one of many books about making rugs already digitized and available online:
http://www.archive.org/details/craftofhandmader00hickrich
Here is the point where you have to choose:
If you become an affiliate of Krause Publishing and market books from that website your customers will be paying full price for the book. Which is good… you get a higher commission on a higher priced book. Right?
This is a great looking website.
They sell quality products.
The site is easy to navigate… and easy to buy from.
But!
Would your customers be unhappy if they found this same book with a hefty discount on Amazon?
And….
Would your customers be unhappy if they could qualify for free shipping?
What do you think?
Is it worth a few pennies more to have unhappy customers?
Something to think about…

What Type Of Public Domain Content Will Work Best?
March 5, 2009 by Debra · Leave a Comment
Do you feel as if you have to write constantly… just to keep up? Writing is the life blood of internet marketing. We all have to write blog posts, articles for publishing on directories, writing our information product content… and don’t forget all the other social web 2.0 sites that need content.
Internet marketing is always in need of well written material and other content for attracting readers and buyers.
Many businesses pay to have new material produced for just this need. You really don’t need to pay for writers. This is where the large collection of public domain content comes into play.
But the question remains, what type of content will work for your Internet marketing.
Public Domain Photos
There are many photographs in the public domain. Some of these images are older and the copyright has expired. You can find newer photos for your Internet marketing as well in the public domain.
Often a photographer will place a collection of their current photos in the public domain with only a request that you use their byline. http://scobleizer.com/2008/01/31/putting-photos-into-public-domain/
Photos of all sizes and types can be found in the public domain to give your marketing the edge that it needs to succeed.

If you blog with Word Press - a plug in has been developed so that you can drop in commercially copyright-free images into your blog articles. http://www.photodropper.com/wordpress-plugin/
Public Domain Magazines
Public domain magazines come in a variety of topic and tones to fit all of your Internet marketing needs. You will find that it is easy to locate these magazines on the topics that your business focuses on. There are public domain magazines that are written in a formal tone and ones that are written in an informal tone.

You can find exactly what you need to get your Internet marketing off the ground with public domain magazines. Once you have the magazine for your marketing, you can use the articles within it to fill your marketing with great content.
Try this search: http://books.google.com/books?q=magazine&as_brr=1
Public Domain Books
Many businesses do not think of using public domain books in their marketing. There are great works of writing available in the public domain.
When you are looking for content to use for your Internet marketing, one of the biggest things to consider is how well written the content is.
The books in the public domain have been published and have already proven themselves as being well written and audience grabbing.
Now it is up to you to harness this usefulness to help your marketing succeed.

For your business, you want to do everything that you can to make it succeed. A large part of this will include writing.
As you plan out your Internet Marketing, one of the ways to “write” great content is to not write it yourself.
By using the wide variety of public domain content that is available to you … you can take your business to the next level and beyond. Find out more - click on the link below:

Finding Public Domain Content For Internet Marketing
February 25, 2009 by Debra · Leave a Comment
Internet marketing is a method to market your products (business) on the Internet. A few ways to do this effectively are
- through placing ads on Websites,
- getting a top rank on major search engines,
- and publishing online press releases.
If done correctly, your efforts will be seen by many people and your customer count — and profits — will increase.
You may be thinking where do I start?
What do I need to do to begin my own Internet marketing?
First and foremost you’ll need content — content for your website, for ads, for newsletters, etc. You’ll need content for anything related to your Internet marketing strategy. Although developing content may be time consuming, it is necessary to promote, display, and share your information with everyone in a manner that’s so appealing they can’t pass up your business and the product(s) you are selling.
What would you say if I told you there was a way around developing your own content, legally and without charge?
It’s true!
Public domain content is a compilation of articles and magazines — to name some of the available content — that is not protected by copyright and is available for the publics’ use for free. Granted this content will not be handed to you, but it’s not terribly difficult to find either.
Remember, it will be worth your searching efforts because finding this content will help you breeze through compiling your own information to use in your Internet marketing strategy.
Using major search engines, search for wording that includes “public domain” and the topic you are looking for. If you don’t have a particular topic in mind, start with topics related to your company, or topics related to your slogan (if you don’t have a slogan, this is also a great way to gather ideas to create one).

You’ll be shown different sites that offer content such as public domain articles, public domain photographs, public domain magazines, and/or public domain e-books. Your time will be well spent scanning the different sites and items you’ve discovered. Keep your mind open to new ideas that might be different to your original plan.
I found Bible Clip Art
And Bible Coloring Pages
Plus… bible stories were formated here: http://gardenofpraise.com/bibl14s.htm
Maintain an ongoing list of content you come across and where you found it in the event you’d like to go back and see what else is available from that particular piece to generate more or better ideas.
You may stumble upon a few pictures or phrases that would go well with your advertisement plan or Website design. Save Everything To Your Computer… you never know when it will be deleted from a website.
Again, stay open minded to all options so you don’t miss something that could contribute to your fantastic Internet marketing strategy.

Public Domain Natural Body Product Ideas
February 18, 2009 by Debra · Leave a Comment
The hottest thing these days is going organic. We are being more careful about what we put on and into our bodies.
Some of the best selling products are natural things that go on our body to foster a more wholesome lifestyle.
Natural body products encompass a large category. Natural product lines are geared towards natural makeup, soaps, body cleansers, and the like. These are products you can make without all of the harsh chemicals.
But, with so many companies pushing natural products, what can you do to stand head and shoulders above the rest? First of all, survey your surroundings. What would be the best product line to pursue for your target market?
Set Up A Natural Body Product Website
A personalized website allows you to do so many things that you may not be able to do offline. For one, you can offer information to your customers. Of course - you can find a ton of Public Domain information about making and using all natural body soaps, scrubs, shampoos and gentle baby lotions.
People love knowledge. With natural products it is crucial that your customers are well informed about the products they are using. This includes how to use and store them. This can be accomplished through well-written content on your website. People will come back again and again for new insights into the products.
Have a useful table or page of common “natural product” terms. When you refer to ingredients in the products in your content, you want every reader to be find those ingredients on your FAQ or “terms” page.
Click Here to read about how to Create An History Website Of Perfume And Cosmetics
Consider making your natural body care website a blog.
A blog can be used for customer polls, leaving feedback, surveys, signups, referrals, and forums pertaining to customer issues. You can post your experiences with the products as a first-hand user and offer helpful hints.
You can tell how you found the old recipes and how you make each batch with love and care.
Here is a recipe for hair perfume:
Oil of Jessamine, Perfumed with the Flowers. Fold pieces of white cotton cloth twice or four times ; moisten them with fine olive oil, slightly pressing them, and place them in proper frames. Then place on the cloths a rather thick layer of freshly gathered and dry jessamine flowers, carefully deprived of all green parts. In 24 hours care- fully remove the flowers, and replace them by fresh ones until the oil is sufficiently perfumed. The oil is then expressed. The same method is employed in preparing oils from other delicate flowers ; such as violet, lily of the valley, etc.
Customers and visitors can respond to your posts which gives you valuable information for future marketing strategies.
You can add your own style by grouping products together in gift packs, gift baskets, and small giveaways. Create baskets with dry skin products, baby care ideas or natural shampoo and conditioners. With basket sales, you will make more money than with stand alone products.
There are a lot of ideas you can use to add your own creativity to your product line. Since we are talking about getting back to a natural state, package your natural products in cloth shopping bags. Eliminating the need for plastic shopping bags is also helping the environment get back to natural.
Natural products have garnered a following. Adding your personal touch can make your product line stand out among others. Adding custom labels using public domain images will help to create customer loyalty.

Should You Offer Resell Rights For Your Public Domain Products
February 11, 2009 by Debra · Leave a Comment
I’ve been thinking about offering Resell Rights For Public Domain Products that I create. Never having done this before… it was a huge question - and I needed an answer (actually a few answers).
Offering Resell Rights seems like a good way to increase the profit margin on any of my products… but it also seems as if I might “loose” the exclusive nature of the products. It’s great to have products that you own - exclusivly - and just increase profits by offering the products for affiliates to sell. Everyone wins in that situation.
Why would adding resell rights to the mix increase my profit margin?
Of course… I found out that Avril Harper had the answer. All I had to do was ask.
To Resell Or Not to Resell? The Big Question For eBook Sellers and Affiliate Marketers on eBay
By Avril Harper
Opinions vary, often widely, as to whether it is better to sell eBooks with resell rights, allowing other people to resell your goods for profit, or if it’s more profitable to be the sole seller of those items.
There is no easy answer, there are benefits either way which sellers must know about to help create an informed selling decision.
Furthermore, there are benefits to promoting resell rights products alongside exclusive items in an overall book selling strategy.
Let’s look at the pros and cons of offering resell rights, exclusive products, or a combination, to help you decide the best route for you to follow.
Resell rights eBooks pass quickly between sellers, creating a viral effect that can achieve immense sales of other products featured inside those eBooks.
Imagine, for example, you have a book about getting rid of pimples for which there is no comparable eBook on the market right now. Let’s say you’ve tested the market and you’re sure you can sell ten reader only copies each week or two copies with resell rights. Which is the more profitable option?
Well, that largely depends on:
- - Potential profits on initial sales.
- - Potential profits on later sales of products featured inside those books.
Let’s say your book costs $30 for reader copies, and $100 with resell rights. There is a skin cream mentioned inside the eBook that eliminates pimples fast and earns you $40 on every sale.
These are the factors that might influence your decision:
- Bear in mind you can sell either ten reader copies at $30 each or two resell rights copies at $100 dollars each, you can not sell both product types.
- Those ten copies net $300, the resell rights items offer $200 per week.
- In the short term, selling reader copies looks by far the best option, and means also the entire market for the book is yours alone.
- Resell rights titles mean sharing your market and can lead to price wars that might eventually find your books selling at pennies apiece.
- Without some back end selling potential, offering resell rights is a fast way to lose control of your product as well as earning you little or nothing once resell rights marketers have flooded the market for your book.
- So, definitely, unique selling is the way to go where no potential exists for future sales to buyers of either product type.
Now consider eBook sales, exclusive or with resell rights, with integrated affiliate links, in this case for skin cream costing $80 a time of which you earn half.
- Let’s say approximately two in ten book buyers purchase the cream.
- So those ten exclusive sales, generating two skin cream orders, net you another $80.
- As to the two resell rights product sales, well it’s unlikely many first line buyers will purchase the cream, they’re here to make money from selling marketing rights to other publishers.
- So to first line resell rights buyers you net zero affiliate commissions.
- Total profits from ten exclusive sales currently stand at $380, resell rights sales remain at $200.
- At face value, exclusive book marketing looks the outright winner.
But read on, and prepare for a big surprise!
Don’t let the last example fool you, it’s not time yet to rule out resell rights in your product.
To prove it, let’s see what happens when your first line resell rights buyers begin selling copies to other resellers and readers, and those other resellers also begin selling to resellers and readers, and so on, potentially for weeks or years to come.
Every single resell rights sale can generate hundreds of future sales and thousands of ultimate readers for your book about getting rid of pimples, even though you’ll probably earn nothing from book sales per se.
The really big money lies elsewhere because, if your two resell right sales each week, approximately one hundred each year, sell just ten reader copies each, that’s one thousand new readers potentially to purchase your skin cream.
That’s very low indeed, for really popular titles many thousands of ultimate readers are possible, even hundreds of thousands.
And, if 20% (2 out of 10) of ten thousand people buy your cream, netting you $40 each, that’s 2,000 sales, and $80,000 going into your bank account.
Summing up, without back end profit potential you’ll probably earn more by selling direct to readers, with or without an affiliate program, meaning every sale makes money for you.
Conversely, resell rights, with potential to target tens of thousands of eventual buyers, might earn you nothing on second line product sales but could be a fast way to making really big profits from sales of additional products within your book.
There is no right and wrong choice between giving or not allowing resell rights in any product, market testing is the only way to determine the likely most profitable option, and the process is relatively simple.
It goes like this:
- Start by selling reader copies only, determine what percentage of buyers purchase something recommended inside the book. Determine likely weekly book sales, calculate likely initial and back end profit potential.
- If back end sales are few or non-existent from the initial product, it’s unlikely they’ll improve using resell rights.
- If back end profits grossly exceed income from initial eBook sales, resell rights could be much more profitable than retaining sole rights in your product.

Why Use Public Domain Content For Article Marketing?
February 6, 2009 by Debra · Leave a Comment
With the price of everything going up, so is the price of marketing your business. There are many aspects of your business that you can not control the cost of. Article Marketing does not need to be one of them.
You can decrease the cost of your marketing by using public domain content.
Many businesses choose to hire freelance writers to write material for their websites and newsletters. Public domain content can take care of all these needs without the money or the aggravation.
Public domain content consists of many different types of written material that you can use for your article marketing. You do not need to spend a single penny to use them.
- There is no advertising for a writer.
- There is no fee for the article itself.
- You are assured of the quality of the material because public domain content has been previously published and proved its worth.
Another problem many internet marketers have is the need for material written for your web site “Quickly”. When it comes to Internet marketing, you need to strike while the iron is hot for your company. This is not easy if you have to wait for a writer to write your articles and turn them into you. If the material is not what you asked for, or is in need of a rewrite, this is an extra frustration… you just don’t need.
Public Domain material needs very little re-writing… and boom you have an article!
Set your business apart from the rest and use public domain content in your Internet marketing.
Find out exactly how Logan and I find a micro-niche and use Public Domain Content for Article Marketing.

7 Tips To Boost Your Productivity
January 31, 2009 by Debra · Leave a Comment
Getting Things Done: The Art of Stress-Free Productivity
Since I personally feel that I am not performing as productive as I want to… and many times I have seen other people feel that they are not performing on all cylinder’s - and we are all looking out for ways to increase productivity.
I began to analyzed the way I do the tasks at my job and found that I am not doing the things in a right way or rather doing them in a unproductive way.
Below are the tips I started to follow and amazingly they worked well and I achieved good results in very little time. I decided to share the same with my readers of the blog so that they can also be more productive as well. Start implementing these tips right now and you too will see great results. Then share your experiences here.
Plan: Everything starts with a plan. You need to plan your work if you want to be more productive and efficient. Take for example, constructing a bridge or a house.
Before you buy even single brick for its construction, you plan how to build it, research it, refine it and then execute it. Starting to do a task without a plan is nothing less than setting you up for a failure. You need to have a clear understanding of how you are going to do a task and how much time it is going to take to complete it.
Ready for Anything: 52 Productivity Principles for Work and Life
Organize: The biggest reason people fail is they fail to organize themselves. Once you set out to do a task, analyze and find what tools and material you need to complete a task.
This will help you not to waste time in finding the required information and tools when working on the task, thus helping you to become more productive. Invest time and money, if needed, to organize yourself and to complete the task efficiently. It is very important to follow the good time management principles to become more productive.
Gauge Your Capabilities: You need to find whether you have enough capability to complete a task before committing to something. Testing the capabilities you have will help you to understand the complexity of the task and thus helps you accurately estimate the time to complete it.
You can use this “Gauge” to plan to complete that task. If you do not have the right skills to do a task, hire someone else do it for you.
Set The Right Expectations: Setting the right expectations to all the parties involved and who are expecting something from you as a deliverable is important. Doing this will help others to know what they will get from you at the end of time allocated for a task to complete. This will avoid the surprises for the other people and for you too. In order to do this, agree upfront what you will deliver and how, before you even start the task.
Commit Yourself: Committing yourself for completing a task and avoiding the procrastination is very important to become successful. Do not get distracted with anyone or anything until either your task is completed or you have done it up to a certain stage, so that you can take a break and continue with it later. Also committing yourself to a task gives you sense of pride when you complete it.
Even if you fail to succeed in making it successful, there is sense of satisfaction that you have given your best shot to it. If failed to execute it successfully, see what went wrong, correct it and repeat the same process and success is bound to kiss you. Most people do not become more productive due to bad habit of procrastination. Avoid it and you will surely become more productive.
Collaborate and network: No one can do all things alone. At some point of time, you may need some help or cooperation from others to become more productive and successful. Benefit from collaboration and networking with others. Before you expect a help from others, you need to help others first. There goes a saying “As you sow, so shall you reap”, which means, in simple words, whatever you do to others it will happen same to you.
Execute: Just do it. I know this is a popular slogan of Nike. But I love it in true sense. Most people plan, organize and read about something they wanted to do, but never take that first step toward achieving their goals. Even if you have tons of knowledge, it is just waste if you do not take action.
Follow these tips and boost your productivity many times. Also check out 6 Simple But Highly Effective Ways To Attract Tons Of Traffic To Your Website Or Blog for free. And learn how to get free traffic to your sites and blogs.

Free Guide to How To Create Maximum Exposure With Press Releases
January 29, 2009 by Debra · Leave a Comment
Every time I release a new e-book I send out a press release to try and create immediate exposure, interest and traffic. Do you remember the story of the teenager who created the website ‘Million Dollar Home Page’ selling pixels for advertising space to pay for his college education?
As far as I know, the only advertising he did was to send out a single press release which was picked up and published by a national newspaper. This started the ball rolling and he made just under a million dollars in a couple months selling this new type of advertising space. You can see the power of press releases.
The other advantage is that as your ‘URL’ is included in each press release, you can instantly create hundreds of direct one way links which will give you a major boost in your search engines rankings as I’ll explain in the next chapter.
Writing a press release:
Writing a good press release can be surprisingly difficult and if you plan to do it yourself, make sure you look at a selection of similar ones in the same category. You can pay someone to do it for you but it will cost around $200 - $300, so do your research and have a go yourself.
Tips for writing a press release:
When writing your press release, it should be:
Concise: Editors receive hundreds of press releases a week and are more likely to read releases that are brief and to the point.
Well-written: A good way to ensure your press release ends up in the trash is: bad spelling, poor grammar and illogical claims.
Factual: Stick to logical claims and avoid statements of belief such as: we’re the best, the cheapest, etc.
Honest: Avoid padded quotes by you or your staff; even if they are experts; they come across as biased.
Questions to consider before you write a press release:
1. Who is the targeted audience of your press release?
2. What do you want readers to gain from your press release?
3. What sort of information does your press release provide?
4. What is the support or justification for the information in your press release?
5. What is the tone of your press release?
6. What do you want to accomplish with your press release?
Does the press release’s opening statement answer the following:
Who ?
What ?
When ?
Where ?
Why ?
How ?
A good example of a press release:
Lulu.com Has the Pleasure to Annouce the Publication of a
First Time Author of a Children’s Book Entitled “The Why of Stars”
Suzi, a seven-year-old girl with a strong imagination ponders the existence of stars. Her questions generate an appreciation of the relationships of herself, other people and the cosmos.
Lasqueti Isle, B.C. (PRWEB) September 23, 2006 — A humorous and endearing story of a seven-year-old girl’s initial awakening of self-realization. Suzi, the protagonist, questions her parents and grandfather about why there should be stars. It is an important question for she lives in the prairies where the night sky is such an overpowering presence. Their answers only encourage Suzi to ponder the nature of stars with great concentration culminating to a beautiful conclusion. This book was self published thru Lulu, (www.lulu.com), the world’s fastest-growing provider of print-on-demand books.
The author, Rockie Brede, has done a reading of this story before an audience of a hundred plus people and it was well received. Mothers in their twenties and up to their seventies heartily approved of the story “The Why of Stars.”
Here is a quote from the lips of the protagonist herself. “But daddy you have told me what stars are. I want to know why we have stars. What is their purpose? Do people make money on them?”
This brilliant children’s story is available on www.lulu.com, www.amazon.ca. It may be previewed at no charge.
Accompanying the story are thirteen illustrations, one baring the cover of the book. The front cover is done in pencil crayon and the rest in aqua pencil. The illustrations are vibrant and pleasing to the eye.
The author, Rockie Brede, is a single man, a recluse that lives on a boat and his closest neighbours are seagulls. He has realized significant artistic euphoric states. Ideally he would like to pursue his art full time and hopefully really short out his brains.
Recommended companies:
A good company to consider for your first press release is ‘PR Web’, the choice of many internet marketers. It will cost you between $50 and $200.
There is also a FREE service which can be found at ‘PR Leap’. The exposure isn’t great but what I tend to do is to send out a press release with them each week about updates I’ve made to one of my websites. It always creates a couple of permanent back-links from quality websites.
My advice is to try a press release once and see what the results are. How to work from home
And learn how to get free traffic to your sites.

Using Public Domain Article Interviews To Add Credibility
January 27, 2009 by Debra · 2 Comments
Today is really an extension of last weeks article: Using Public Domain Articles As Teleseminar Content. I previously discussed the use of articles found in the public domain as content for a seminar… specifically one that is done online.

But what about those teleseminars that you want to do with an authority?
Using an interview with a professional can immediately add credibility to your website, but these can be somewhat difficult to come up with, depending on the field that your website relates to.
Many professionals know that their time is very valuable to them and will charge you a great deal. Others will not even speak to you unless you are involved with a reputable publication.
A solution to this problem is to find public domain interviews to put on your website. These interviews can be found in public domain magazines, which are quickly becoming a popular way to come up with website content.
There are countless public domain magazines out there that are free for you to use on your website and this includes interviews with industry professionals, so take a look for these items today and you will have a professional feel to your website in no time.
Another problem with using a professional is that you have no control over that person’s opinion.
If your professional’s ideologies differ from what you are attempting to accomplish, it makes the entire interview worthless to you.
When you use interviews from public domain magazines, however, you can pick and choose which articles you use, so you can be sure that the opinion in the article matches what you are trying to accomplish.
Public domain magazines are all over the place and by learning the laws of the country in which the magazine was copyrighted, you can quickly have access to more content that you will ever need. This will save you a great deal of money and get you the expert credibility that you need, so it is definitely something that should be taken advantage.
Since many of these interviews are found in high end public domain magazines that used some of the best professional writers of that era, they will also be very high in quality and will keep your readers highly interested.
Public domain articles are the next wave of internet content because getting content on a regular basis is far too difficult for many webmasters.
You can choose to place the interview in it’s written form on your website… But… a better idea would be to record yourself “speaking” the interview. Think about that for a second… What a cool idea. And it’s all original to you.
If you need content from a true professional, but do not have access to someone in that field, find yourself an interview in a public domain magazine and you will immediately have exactly what you need.
