time saving public domain blogging tips

Blogging, a popular form of online journaling, is becoming a regular past-time of many people from all ages and backgrounds.

From teens to working adults to grandparents, people all over the world are sharing their unique points of view via the World Wide Web.

Some are even making money online by posting advertising links or affiliate websites on their blogs.

Whether you are blogging for fun or to make a few extra dollars, here are some time-saving tips you can use to manage a blog:

  • First of all, find a blog host site that is easy to navigate to create a simple blog. You don’t have to be a website guru to build a simple and easy to read blog. Most services offered by the free blog hosting sites are user-friendly and offer step by step building tools to get you started. Within minutes, you can have your own blog to share with family and friends.
  • Write your blog posts in advance (using all that great public domain content you have found online) and store them in a text document on your desktop. That way you can post quickly to your blog when you are on a break from your normal daily routine. It also gives you the opportunity to proof-read and make sure the information is not too personal to post for all to see.
  • Save your favorite sites to your blog roll for easy access when you go online. This saves you time from having to hunt them down in your browser’s favorites list. You can even categorize them in smaller lists so they are just a click away. Some favorite sites may include other blogs, family picture websites or online magazines. What a great way to save time by reading them online!By reading other blogs - you will often get great ideas to write about on your own blogs. By linking to other blogs - you are also encouraging them to link back to you. This is the perfect way to get targeted traffic!

Most of all, have fun with your blog. This should never be a “chore”… if you need great ideas for a blog article - just head over to your Public Domain content file saved on your computer desktop. It’s so easy to copy and paste!

Create Small Reports With Public Domain

January 15, 2009 by Debra · Leave a Comment

Have you ever purchased a course that was so good… you have read it over and over again? I just finished this course again. I have had this Small Reports course for over 2 years and every time I go through it I learn (or remember) something new!

This is not some old rehashed tutorial… really. Yes… it’s been around for a while, but the system has worked and is still working for me - everyday.

What is this Small Reports Fortune course?

A step-by-step manual for creating small reports and selling them for profit. This course includes everything you could possibly need to get your first small report written and selling on clickbank.com

The course comes as a

  • 101-page manual in .PDF format,
  • 7 downloadable .MP3 sessions,
  • 4 exclusive bonuses in .PDF format
  • and a set of video tutorials.

For this price, you’re getting a course in market research, a course in copywriting, a course in web creation, a course in marketing your product… I mean, it’s almost silly how thorough he is in this one product. It’s truly a comprehensive, step-by-step course.

The only thing that Jimmy doesn’t do is actually sit down and write the reports for you — but I do think that’s understandable since the price is so reasonable. ;) (And… it’s so easy to do it yourself with Copyright-Free Public Domain material)

If you order today, you can be taking orders for you first small report in less than 1 week from NOW.

Anyone wants to make money with infoproducts - This is the course for you. It really doesn’t matter if you’re going to write the entire report yourself… use public domain content… use PLR/reprint articles… hire a ghost writer… or a combination of all of these tactics.

It is just especially useful for those who want to create ebooks, but are intimidated by creating a large infoproduct.

This course will teach the steps you need to write short reports that people will want to read and make money doing it.

Small Reports Fortune is easy to understand and includes examples so that you understand exactly what to do and how. Not only are you shown how to write the reports, you are also given information on how to best design, price, and sell your small report. Finally, you’re given tips on how to use your small reports to build even more income.

The only thing that isn’t covered in depth is how to get traffic once you’ve gotten the report written and ready to sell. However, Jimmy does offer several other courses with training to get traffic, especially his www.SalesArmySecrets.com

This course made it easy for me to see the HUGE potential in writing small reports. Additionally, it gave me a system for creating a quality product and a roadmap to follow to get them to market.

When he released this course on creating small reports, I thought, “What in the world could he possibly have to say on the subject that hasn’t already been said?”

I thought that was a fair question. I have been a coaching student of his for years, but Jimmy has put together a nice course here that teaches how to create small reports…

The case studies he provides at his site attention-grabbers for sure -

  • * Over eighteen-thousand dollars in monthly residuals.
  • * Over thirty-thousand dollars in one day profit.
  • * Over one million dollars in total profit.

All from writing short reports.

But, as impressive as all that is, what really got my attention - and my endorsement - was the fact that he shows anyone (even rank beginners!) how to start from scratch and actually make a profit in just 7 days.

That means, if right now you have no list, no web site, no ideas … nothing … you can still actually make money from this system in just 1 week.

No… I didn’t make money from this system in a week… or even a month. But I did start to see a significant increase in my profits within 3 months! Why did it take me so long? Well… I was pretty green at internet marketing a few years ago, and let myself get sidetracked.

If I had focused on just this one course… and nothing else… I would have been making larger profits much more quickly.

(Of course, if you have a list and website already, you can see results even quicker!)

Jimmy has even included as one of the bonuses, a 16-page report that offers a systematic checklist broken down into daily activities for you to complete.

Assignments appear in chronological order, completely cover the entire process of creating a small report from start to finish and refer to specific pages of the main manual and bonuses to provide complete, detailed instructions for completing each assignment.

I mean, it’s all broken down into easy-to-do steps!

And, best of all, he shows his exclusive never-before-revealed “Six Phases Of A Six Figure Small Report Business”. This alone was worth the cost of the course!

In order words, there’s a “small fortune” to be made with these “small reports”! :0)

But… before you go buying something you’re not really sure about - I have a FREE short report (see reports really do work) that guides you through the steps givin in the Small Reports Course.

Use Public Domain Short Stories For Blogs

January 10, 2009 by Debra · 2 Comments

Use Public Domain Short Stories for BlogsThe public domain contains hundreds of short stories, legendary tales and poems from many time periods just waiting to be rediscovered. You can use public domain short stories for blogs or ebooks!

Ask anyone and they can probably remember with fondness a favorite story from their own childhood. These old stories are very popular with just about everyone - because anyone can relate to them, from children to adults.

They range from romance to adventure, science fiction to fantasy, mystery and even horror. Even stories written by obscure or unknown authors can become popular again.

You can find just about any type of story to appeal to any audience simply by doing a quick search at http://www.archive.org/index.php.

In a nutshell, any written works published before 1923 are now considered “in the public domain”, which means they can be used by anyone in their own written works for profit.

So how can one earn money from these short stories or poems?

There are several ways.

  • The easiest and most popular way to create revenue from old stories is to create an organized collection of these stories with similar themes and posting them on a blog or website. People can search by topic and locate their most loved stories.
  • You can even create a forum where people can talk about the stories or tales with others. This creates a nostalgia and a place where others will come back to see more over and over again.

So where does the revenue come in? By adding affiliate links on related topics and Google Adsense ads, the viewers of your website or blog will click on them to find more information, thus generating a passive income from those clicks for you. (Be sure to post in related forums and websites more information about your sites so that you will get even more web traffic for your efforts.)

Create an ebook of Copyright Free Short Stories

The second way you can generate income from copyright free short stories is to take that same collection and create an e-book.

Be creative and think about why a reader would want to seek out those stories in the first place.

  • Is it to recreate a sense of joy from a happier childhood time? Then create an e-book that will appeal to that type of reader.
  • You can even design e-books based on holidays or special events. Birthdays, Christmas, Easter rank as some of the more popular themes that will sell well to your audience.
  • Gather up a series of at least six stories, group them into one e-book and sell it as one written work. You can include illustrations and graphics that would be included in that time period as well, be careful that they are royalty free images however to steer clear of copyright infringement.

Overall, have fun finding interesting stories and recreating the excitement about them, and make money at the same time!

When was the last time you could honestly say that you had a blast putting together a new product? I mean really, let’s face it - product creation is a ton of work! Ways To Tag Public Domain Articles For SEO

December 14, 2008 by Debra · Leave a Comment

Tag Public Domain Articles
If you find yourself using public domain magazine articles, you will still want to re-work these articles a bit for search engine optimization (SEO). That’s the reason why you have these articles on your website in the first place… so search engines will place your article high in the search results.

Find Targeted Articles

The great thing about finding these articles in public domain magazines is that you don’t have to pay for the articles and you have your choice of a number of articles at the same time. Finding the articles that are the closest to your target market is the first goal.

Magazines filled with target articles are almost endless… of course you should start your search on eBay.

Click here to find a huge article I wrote about finding Public Domain Magazines.

Inserting Your Tags and Keywords

If the article is exactly what you are looking for, but it does not have a specific word mentioned enough, all you have to do is insert the keyword into the article in a few appropriate sentences. Even if you need to do this multiple times, it is still much faster than writing the articles yourself and you can be certain that the content is top notch because these are edited and published articles.

Outsource Tagging and SEO

If you do not feel like doing the SEO yourself, you can outsource the job… by hiring a freelance writer and have him or her add your keywords into the public domain magazine article that you provide him or her with.

Make sure that you tell the writer not to re-write the entire article, but rather just to put the keyword into the public domain article a specific number of times and your articles should come out - outstanding.

Where To Find Keywords for SEO

When coming up with keywords, there are various online services that will tell you which keywords are getting tons of hits, although you may have to play with these words a bit to get the best results.

The best free service available today is Google Keyword Tool

Therefore, it is important that the public domain magazine article that you choose is easily adaptable to incorporate different keywords easily.

does not have to be a difficult process because you have so many choices when choosing an article. Simply choose an article that can easily be altered and you won’t have any problems.

Using Maps To Create Compelling Products

December 5, 2008 by Debra · 2 Comments

Maps make for fantastic wall art. Not only do they remind us of where we’ve been they can help us get where we want to go. For example, I have a friend who has a strong love for all things Russian. She has gorgeous maps of Russia placed in key locations throughout her home. Because the organization and boundaries of Russia have changed over the years these maps, some of them are very old, have value as collector’s items.

Now we’re not talking about the Rand McNally Road Atlas types of maps, hang hose on your wall and the only thing you’re likely to gain is the knowledge of all the rest areas between Austin and Albuquerque. Ick!

No, we’re talking about vintage maps. Before the invention of GoogleMaps and GPS map making was an art which took map creators painstaking time and attention to detail. You can find a wealth of fabulous map art at archives.org. Here’s how.

  • Step One. Visit the Library of Congress Digital Collection
  • Step Two. Enter maps in the search area.
  • Step Three. Hit search! You’ll find more than 2,000 results.
  • Step Four. Narrow your search.

Love Russian maps like my friend? Search Maps Russia and review the results.

Love Europe? Search Maps Europe

Want to stick closer to home? Search by state. You may be able to find aerial photos, hand drawn maps of an entire state or notable city. Like this one of Georgia:

You can show the progress of time and change for cities like Las Vegas and Chicago with a progression of map images.

Step Five. Don’t forget to search inside books. There are a large number of books in the public domain which have gorgeous maps inside and included as illustrations. These maps offer the same opportunity that individual map collections do.

So what can you do with all of these public domain maps?

Well posters and calendars first come to mind however you can also create coffee table books with themes from your desired country or region. You can take the images to a printer and create quality lithographs and sell them framed or unframed as the works of art they were meant to be.

Map art with public domain content is a fantastic way to create unique products for your map loving audience. Start at loc.gov and brainstorm the possibilities.

Bug Book For Children Copyright Free

November 7, 2008 by Debra · Leave a Comment

Do you know a child who loves bugs? Betcha didn’t think those six legged creatures were crawling around the public domain. Guess what…they are and they offer myriad product opportunities.

Copyright Free Smithsonian Bug BookCheck this out. Go to archive.org and do one of two things. You can head to this book directly – Smithsonian Scientific Series - Insects Their Ways and Means of Living, or you can search texts with the keyword Insects and/or bugs.

The Smithsonian puts together a fantastic book. Inside you’ll find is an abundance of wonderful bug pictures and plates.

These amazing images can be used to create coloring books - online downloads or print.

They can be used to create fantastic wall art – imagine a giant grasshopper on the bedroom wall of a little boy. Or dragonflies and butterflies for little girls.

There are pictures of roaches and bed bugs but I cannot imagine a parent putting those guys on the wall – however if there’s an audience here’s the opportunity!

The book is divided into sections and each bug receives full attention. Readers will learn all they ever wanted to know about the notorious Cockroach or the Termite. The images can be used to create stencils, cross stitch patterns, stickers, and iron-ons.

Create a Book Series

The text, all 431 pages, can be segmented into smaller insect books for children. And we all know how much children like to collect things right? Create a series of books, one for each major species, using the content in the Smithsonian Series and you’ll be able to create and sell a whole series all about bugs.

Use These Public Domain Print Images For Other Product Ideas

You can use some of the inside images for book cover art and create a truly professional product. Children are captivated by bright colors and all things gross, creepy, and crawly. Girls of course tend toward ladybugs, butterflies, and dragon flies. Boys probably prefer spiders, ants, grasshoppers and the more wiggly bugs. This book has it covered – whatever gender you want your product to appeal to.

Remember, children like to collect so bug trading cards using the information inside the book for your content and the images for the card graphics may be a great way to sell more than one product.

You could create cards for each type of bug. There are hundreds of spider species for example and each species could be a specific card.

The only thing you have to do to create the products is sort through the information and decide what each card will highlight and then find a printer nearby to create the cards.

Quick product at a very low price – that’s the magic of public domain.

Horse Related Public Domain Product Ideas

November 5, 2008 by Debra · Leave a Comment

Horse Related Public Domain Product IdeasHorses Past and Present, a book which can be reformatted to include horses of the true present, since 1914, the photos and images could be pulled, and it also talks to the history of England so portions could be used to create articles for horse aficionados.

Horses have been a part of our culture and lifestyle for thousands of years. The Native Americans used them for transportation, farmers used them to make crop harvesting faster and more productive, we race them and of course we ride them for pure joy and pleasure.

Much of our Equestrian culture came over on the boat from England. Horses Past and Present by Sir Walter Gilby and published in 1900 is available in the public domain.

The book includes a complete chronology from before the conquest to Queen Victoria. It’s a fantastic collection of the horse history in England including both work horses and show horses.

Horses Past and Present also offers a number of great images which can be used as part of your overall product or as an individual project. There are only about a half dozen images in the book so a coffee table book or calendar type product would need to be supplemented with other public domain images.

They’re easy to find, using the resources at archive.org you can search the images or other text with the keywords horse or equestrian. You can also find public domain magazines for equestrians and use the images and graphics there.

Antique Horse Print

Large Grey Horse Public Domain Graphic

If you’re creating a book from Horses Past and Present consider creating a series of volumes. You could divide this particular book into several volumes and add more images.

Additional volumes can be created from public domain magazine content and other equestrian books in the public domain. Bring it up to date by hiring a ghostwriter to write about horse racing and work horses in 2000. You’ll have a complete history of horses. You can also visit horses in other cultures to broaden your theme.

Horse lovers are plentiful. Finding a product which appeals to them, provides value, is easy to market and costs little to create can be difficult. Use public domain content to meet the demands of your audience and your bottom line.

Why Do Digital Products Fail?

October 27, 2008 by Debra · 2 Comments

a day in the life of striatic ~ oops

I was contacted today by an new online marketer and he is struggling with creating his own products but knows that lot’s of digital products fail…

Here is the email:

I am a culinary/hospitality management graduate but am unable to work in my desired profession. I have a couple of books and articles that are in the public domain and would like to edit and update them for publication and yes they are cookbooks and recipes. Any suggestions, comments and even “snide” remarks (lol) would be greatly appreciated. Micah

Hi Micah…

Perhaps the biggest reason people fail when using Public Domain content to create new products is the don’t know “who” their market is.

In this case… the underlying problem seems to me (just my opinion) that the “tightly targeted market” has not been chosen. Public Domain cookbooks and copyright free magazine articles could be used in a huge variety of markets. With the skills if a culinary/hospitality management graduate it would seem that this would be a perfect target market.

Some of the ideas might be:

  • Cooking for hospitals
  • Cooking for events
  • Cooking for weddings
  • Cooking for restaurants

And… the fact that you could weave in lot’s of tips related to the education your already have is a huge bonus.

Of course, I understand you want to “update” these Public Domain publications so they will be useful for someone in todays current job market. I know how some of these old publications have been written with some of the oddest verbiage.

Logan and I have spent several hundred hours putting together our tutorials that include ideas to help you do just that… “fix the content so it reads well for todays consumer”. The Public Domain Treasure Hunter is a kit that includes pages and pages of ideas that share what other internet marketers have used to publish hot selling products. These are products that don’t have anything to do with internet marketing… their is one that is selling a book for artists just as an example.

I think this kit would be perfect for you to use to “update” your Public Domain information… plus it will teach you where to easily find other copyright free information to add to your product mix. Using all this freely available content just saves your time! This is time you can spend learning how to “market” your new products.

One of the books included in this kit shows you how to research online for copyright free content at libraries. The cool thing about using material from the library is that it doesn’t cost you a thing to “borrow” the book and scan it at home. I’ve done this several times. I’ve researched online all the libraries and had content that looked interesting “sent” to my local library for me to “borrow”. It’s a huge time and money saver.

I hope I’ve helped you in some small way to get your new business off the ground. Good luck and let us know if we can help you in any other way…

How to Repurpose Public Domain Magazine Articles

October 20, 2008 by Debra · 1 Comment

How To Repurpose Public Domain Magazine ArticlesPublic Domain Magazines can be used in a variety of ways to wow your target audience.

Once you have found the public domain magazines that you will use for your business strategy, it is so easy to repurpose them to meet your needs. Really!

Did you know that you can turn almost any public domain magazine article title into a powerful keyword rich article title?

Using keywords when you rewrite an article headline

The headlines used for magazine or newspaper articles are and always have been used to capture the readers attention. Use that little nugget of gold to rewrite headlines to capture Your readers attention.

One of the first things you learn about internet marketing… is that it has a lot to do with using keywords that have a high quantity of search quires. There are many combinations of words that people search for on the Internet - this is called “The Long Tail or Lateral” key words.

When you rewrite a public domain article’s headline to include these commonly searched for phrases, you make this quality article float to the top of the search engines. If you can drawn in a visitor with a great headline, now you have an opportunity to get them to stay for the quality information.

Re-purpose magazine articles for today’s reader

It’s really easy to find a public domain magazine article and repurpose (rewrite) it into something that has meaning for today’s readers.

For example, a public domain article on the topic of how to meet men to date may include a section on placing personal ads in newspapers. To really connect with your readers, you could include examples on internet dating which is just a good - old fashioned form of the old newspaper personal ads.

Many of the ideas from an older public domain magazine about meeting men through friends will hold true. You might need to change some of the examples - such as where people hang out in this day will need to be updated to make the reader feel that the article was written for current times.

The best copyright - free articles are written in an “active” language.

There will be some public domain magazine articles that may be written in a “passive” language or even the “past tense”. To make these articles drive your reader to take action they will need to be rewritten into an active language.

The difference between active language and passive language in the English language is very minute. Changing the public domain article to be active will not seem like a big change to you, but your reader will find it easier to read and make them want to take further action (you want them to read more of your articles don’t you?). This is the goal of all the articles you “write”… you want the reader to take some sort of action.

A reader that has been entertained and given knowledge that they were looking for will explore your web site. It is through the exploration of your web site that they will find your product or idea that you would like to share with them. The idea that you can repurpose public domain magazine content just makes the articles so much easier to write.
